Attorneys representing two Jane Does, former students of Taylor Middle School, have filed a lawsuit in San Mateo County alleging sexual abuse and harassment by former teacher, Ethel Molina. 

The complaint filed in the case details Ms. Molina’s disturbing and brazen acts of abuse upon minor, female students, as well as Taylor Middle School’s lack of response to reports of this abuse. 

The complaint alleges that during the 2013-2014 school year, Taylor Middle School of Millbrae School District, employed a teacher named Ms. Molina. She taught Spanish and math to the seventh graders. Throughout the school year, Ms. Molina sexually assaulted and abused numerous female students, including the two Jane Does. She would demand that these minor students stay, individually, with her after class. Ms. Molina would make the student do tedious tasks around the classroom so that Ms. Molina could get physically close to the female student and touch, pinch, and grope intimate parts of their bodies. Ms. Molina further touched and groped students during class time, in front of other students.

The complaint further alleges that towards the end of the school year, about 4-5 female students went to the School office to report the abuse by Ms. Molina. The students told various school employees, yet nothing was done in response to these reports. The school did not even call the students’ parents or law enforcement. Instead, they allowed Ms. Molina to remain employed, further victimizing and traumatizing female students, because she was “not coming back next year, anyway.” 

Taylor Middle School has a history of hiring teachers who are known to sexually abuse students. In 2016, Taylor Middle School employee and teacher, Heather Butts, was arrested for engaging in a sexual relationship with a Taylor Middle School student that lasted years. The relationship began while the victim was a student at Taylor Middle School and continued until the victim was in high school.
