Swim Instructor, Tyler Reece Livingston, Berkley California Sexual Assault Legal Help

Were You Abused by Swim Instructor Tyler Reece Livingston of Emeryville, California?

Tyler Reece Livingston, a 25-year-old swim instructor from Emeryville, California, is currently facing serious charges related to multiple counts of sexual assault against young boys. During his recent arraignment in Oakland, Livingston pleaded not guilty to the allegations. The charges include nine felony counts involving sex crimes against children, in addition to gun and drug-related offenses. As a result, the court denied his bail, pending a review hearing later this week.

The accusations against Livingston originated from two boys, ages 6 and 9, who reported experiencing sexual abuse during their swimming lessons. These reports led to a deeper investigation, uncovering three additional victims. During a search of Livingston’s residence, authorities found an unregistered firearm, high-capacity magazines, ammunition, suspected cocaine, and children’s clothing.

Livingston's attorney, Valery Nechay, requested bail, citing his strong community ties and the absence of any prior criminal record. However, the prosecution stressed the seriousness and repetitive nature of the offenses. Superior Court Judge Elena Condes sided with the prosecution and denied bail, though a hearing has been scheduled for reconsideration in four days.

Call to Action:

Authorities are continuing their investigation and are actively seeking information from any additional victims or witnesses who may have relevant details about the case. Sexual assault is one of the most heinous and violating acts of an innocent child. The injuries from child sex abuse can create lifelong scars both physically and emotionally. As the parent or guardian of a child sex abuse victim, you feel as though a piece of your child’s innocence has been lost forever. While nothing can ever fully restore this, seeking justice on behalf of your child is important toward bringing some sort of closure and moving forward.

For adults that are sexually assaulted, that assault can have a devastating, lifelong impact, not just the physical trauma and lasting injuries, but residual emotional pain and psychological damage. Even if the perpetrator is caught and punished, other parties may be accountable for allowing it to happen.  You may be entitled to recover monetary damages for the aftermath of a rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse that could and should have been prevented.

Warren E. Thornton Center (WET) Juvenile Detention Facility

A lawsuit, filed last week in California in the Sacramento Superior Court by NAACP Sacramento President Betty Williams, alleges that while under the care of the county, her 14-year-old relative was forced into sex work by a pimp who frequented a group home facility run by Sacramento County for foster children.  Prior to the girl’s removal from her father’s house she had been maintaining straight A’s in school and was active in cheerleading. Now she rarely attends school and is failing her classes.

The Sacramento County group home is a former juvenile detention facility in Rosemont, where foster children have been housed for more than 6 months. All the while receiving site letters requiring the children to be removed. State ombudsperson Larry Fluharty stated that the county is housing teenagers in “jail-like” cells with metal bunk beds, metal toilets covered with wood and that the environment could “retraumatize” the youth and cause the children to feel “Physically and psychologically unsafe.”
